In this tutorial I going to explain how to use Plexus from AEscripts.com in After Effects.
Plexus is a third party plugin designed for Adobe After Effects. Basically this plugin design to great two points or more and join them with dynamic lines in 3D space sequences building amazing 3D particle system you can see demo picture in the end of the page.
This plugin full integrated with Camera, depth of field and lights of After Effects. Also there are many options to control this plugin with high quality of results. Now let’s start to explain how to use it and control it.
First when you apply this plugin on a layer such as a solid layer you will find two separate plugins in the Effects controls box. First one call Plexus Toolkit and the second call Plexus.
Let’s explain first one Plexus Toolkit. In this plugin there are to main options first option call Add object, you can find a three different choices Light, Object and Path in it and you have to choose one to great a third plugin. The choices depend about what you need. I explain those three choices in this tutorial. The second option call Add effector used to add extra effects like noise or color map. You see in picture below
Note: you can add more than choice such one Light and two OBJ.
We’re going through those three choices so if you choose Light from add object it will appear a new plugin call (Plexus Lights Object) , and so for OBJ (Plexus OBJ Object) and Path (Plexus Path Object). Each type include different controls. So Plexus Lights Object will give you ability to change the After Effects lights to points and you can join them with lines and you can animate each light as a movement point. You can see this picture below to understand all the options
Plexus OBJ Object if you use this choice will let you import 3d obj file to your plugin then converted to 3D particle. Also you can insert animated object by importing a sequence of obj files (if you use Cinema 4D you can use Plexus OBJ Sequence Exporter for Cinema 4D) to export the sequence. This picture quick include about this plugin.
Plexus Path Object which is last choice. If you use this plugin on a layer with a masks it will convert all the masks to 3D particle. you can see the picture.
before we leave this three plugins there are an option which call Replication include some options to controle the numbers of the copy of each plugin so if you used a Plexus OBJ Object you can repeat the obj as many as you want so more copies more slow in rendering and it depend on your system performance. This picture include all the options
Now you know how to great and control the three different typs from the first plugin exactly from Add Object option. I going to explain how to use the second plugin. This plugin is general plugin for the last three plugins and you will see it with every choice to control all the points and the lines such as the size of the point or the distance between the points and so on. this picture will explain how to use this options.
This is a demo picture
Finally I developing presets for this plugins to save you times it’s coming soon. You can purchase and download the plugin from AEscripts.
